about

Female bass legend Divinity Roxx and Billboard #1 reggae artist Aaron Nigel Smith are excited to share the release of a new single, Celebrate Kwanzaa. Just in time for the annual holiday, the two Grammy Nominated family music performers teamed up on the song to shine a light on the seven principles that are celebrated during the last week of December. The teachable jam is a perfect addition for inclusive holiday playlists this season. Sirius XM’s Kids Place Live channel will be spinning the track and have invited the duo to produce a series of 7 special holiday segments that highlight and share insights about the principles and symbols of Kwanzaa.

lyrics

Yo
Yo
What up Divinty
Whats Up Aaron
You know I’m so excited to celebrate Kwanza this year
I’m so excited to celebrate Kwanza too
So big up to Dr Karenga for creating this wonderful holiday
Habara Gani

Happy Kwanza
It’s a celebration
Kwanza
Pour Your libation
Kwanza
The ancestors smiling down

Happy Kwanza
It’s a celebration
Kwanza Yeah
Pour Your libation
Happy Kwanza
The ancestors smiling down

Seven Days of Celebration
Gather the family
Pour Libation
Light the Kinara
Feel my aura
The Karamu’s about to get started
Seven days celebrate our community
The first day Umoja means Unity
We come together to uplift each other
As sisters and brothers
The Earth is our mother
Kujichagulia Self Determination
Keep moving forward no matter what we facing
Rise Up
Everybody Rise Up
Each one teach one
And we all stand up
Ujima collective work and responsibility
That means I ride for you
And you ride for me
We can chage the world for the better
But we gotta do it together

Happy Kwanza
It’s a celebration
Kwanza
Pour Your libation
Kwanza
The ancestors smiling down

Happy Kwanza
It’s a celebration
Kwanza Yeah
Pour Your libation
Happy Kwanza
The ancestors smiling down

Ujama
Coorperative economics
Black dollars in Black businesses
Its good for all our promise
Nia
Live up to find your purpose
Everyone has talent and you share them with all of us
Kuumba
That’s creativity
Use you imagination
And to make what you see
Kwanza’s here again
To remind you and me
We’re much stronger all together
So let’s celebrate and sing
Yeah

Celebrate and sing
Imani is faith Kwanza
We celebrate Imani on the last day
The last day of Kwanza is here
It’s the first day of the year
Happy New Year
Hey
Light the candle one more time
Feel the ancestors pass by
Harambe
Pull together
Faith and unity forever

Happy Kwanza
It’s a celebration
Kwanza
Pour Your libation
Kwanza
The ancestors smiling down

Happy Kwanza
It’s a celebration
Kwanza Yeah
Pour Your libation
Happy Kwanza
The ancestors smiling down

Kwanza celebrating that day
Ancestors are showing the way
Kwanza come and fill up your cup
Kwanza come and keep your hands up

Happy Kwanza
Celebrating that day
Kwanza
Ancestors are showing the way
Kwanza
Come and fill up your cup
Kwanza come and keep your hands up

Happy Kwanza
It’s a celebration
Kwanza
Pour Your libation
Happy Kwanza
The ancestors smiling down
